Song of the Day

     This was an easy choice for song of the day.  It's Halloween, duh, a day filled with This Is Halloween by Marilyn Manson.  It's a cover of the original song featured in the impeccable movie The Nightmare Before Christmas.  If I had to pick someone to do a cover for this amazing song, even if I don't personally like his music all that much, I would absolutely choose Marilyn Manson.  He has the perfect persona and theme to his music to fit the mold for this song.

     This is one of those songs that has been an all-time favorite for a while now.  I could not give a shit less about writing stuff tonight so I'm really not going to go in depth.  I will say this, Nightmare by Halifax has a lyric that has become one of my slogans for life, It's your nightmare, make sure to handle it well.  Every day life is going to hit you with crap that you just can't deal with, all you can do is try and handle it as best you can.  Some days are admittedly harder than others.

     This song, I Miss You by Blink-182 is one of those songs that conjure up a whole heck load of emotions for me.  Mostly good, actually pretty much all good.  My favorite part of this being the song of the day?  It was sparked onto me by someone else, didn't even listen to it until something happened.  Wonderful moment that really perked me up and made my 5 hour shift at work a hell of a lot easier to handle.

Song of the Day

     On the October 20th edition of song of the day, I proclaimed that if there was any band that could catch up to Blink-182 & A Day to Remember in the song of the day tally, it would be Say Anything.  Here we are now on October 28th and they're up to 6 songs, with A Walk Through Hell today.  Just 2 behind the leaders.  A Walk Through Hell is one of those special songs to me that resonate in a million different ways, it only causes happy & positive feelings in me, so I'm ecstatic it's the song of the day.  I can definitely say it was one of those days where I didn't personally choose the song of the day, it was influenced to me by someone else.  That's happened a couple times before and I love when it does.  Odds are it normally means I'm in a fantastic mood because of it.

Song(s) of the Day

     All day today, I've been cycling three different songs through my head.  So as I have done before, there's going to be MULTIPLE songs of the day and for the first time, there will be three of them.  Two of them are by the HILARIOUS rap group called The Lonely Island, one being Shy Ronnie 2: Ronnie & Clyde which is just fantastic and features Rihanna.  The other song by Lonely Island I've had stuck in my head all day is Motherlover featuring Justin Timberlake.  I have to say, I may not like Saturday Night Live...in fact, I think it blows ass, but I have to give it credit for creating The Lonely Island.  Their songs are some of the funniest things I've ever had, absolutely love them.  The 3rd song of the day belongs to Say Anything and it's Death for My Birthday, one of those songs about struggling to stay optimistic when life keeps shoveling you crap and there seems to be very little sign of a light at the end of the tunnel.  I was gonna try and narrow this down to just one song, I danced back and forth with it all day, but ultimately, I couldn't decide.  So enjoy the trifecta song of the day.

Song of the Day

     Yesterday's song of the day ended up being Hate Everyone, deservedly so, but by the end of the night I was listening to Out of Time by A Day to Remember.  That's leaked over to today and as I suspected, it's the song of the day for today.  Another one of those songs with lyrics I sit there and just get engulfed and can't help but agree with every word they're saying.  The "epic" battle between Blink-182 & A Day to Remember rages on for the most songs of the day.

Song of the Day

     Ever have a music A.D.D day?  Like when no matter what song seems to come on, you're just not into it fully?  You'll listen to it for 45 seconds or so and then bam, on to the next song.  I was having a day like that today, just listening to my iPod, skipping past song after song, listening to little tidbits of others, not really getting into anything because my mind was just somewhere else.  Then I stopped on one song and it's like without even realizing it, THAT was the song I wanted to listen to.  Hate Everyone by Say Anything was that song for me that broke the mold of being skipped over as I sat there and actually listened to it, multiple times.  Love the lyrics, of course because it's Max Bemis & Say Anything, a great song for a good old pessimist like myself.

Song of the Day

     Pretty sure Canada is taking over my blog.  Canadian singer Lights had the song of the day yesterday and now the Canadian pop punk band Sum 41 has the song of the day today, debuting on the tally with their song With Me.  It was just a matter of time before Sum 41 was featured with a song of the day, I've loved this band for far too long for it not to happen.  With Me is off the album Underclass Hero which came out in 2007 and remains as one of my favorite albums of all time.  The summer of 2007 was filled with Sum 41, I never stopped listening to that album.  From top to bottom, it's filled with some amazing and diverse songs.  With Me is an example of them switching it up and slowing things down a bit, truly an amazing song.  Probably my favorite song by Sum 41 and will forever have a special place in my heart for a multitude of reasons.

Song of the Day

     Okay, raise your hand if you bet that today's song of the day would be from the singer Lights.  Anyone?  Yeah, I didn't think so, what can I say?  My music taste can be a tad bit unpredictable at times.  Sometimes it's nice to go from having A Day to Remember screaming in my ears to a chill ass beautiful singer like Lights calm things out.  If I may be a guy for a moment, Lights is absolutely gorgeous.  This Canadian beauty has a knack for making some catchy and moving songs, she may not be the stereotypical type of musician I turn to, but there definitely can be some days where Lights is a-okay by me.  This song was turned on to me by someone earlier and it has invaded my mind.  The lyrics of Cactus in the Valley are touching and beautiful and can really hit you.  They certainly did that for me.

Song of the Day

     Just like I said a couple days ago, Say Anything is the band most likely, I think, to catch up to Blink-182 & A Day to Remember in my tally.  Crush'd puts them at 3, the first band other than the aforementioned to get that many.  Crush'd is simply put, a corny love song, and sometimes that's all I wanna hear.  I love Max Bemis' lyrics in this song and the way he finishes it off at the end with We should make a formal agreement to only kiss each other.  I love the creativity of Say Anything.

Top 100 Movies of All-Time (89-80)

     Yesterday, I began my epic list counting down my top 100 movies of all-time with 100-90.  Here I am back at it today with numbers 89-80, moving us another day closer to reaching the top 10!  Make sure to keep checking out the blog every day and keep an eye out for Twitter updates announcing the releases of the next batch of movies each day.

Song of the Day

     If there is a band out there right now that could challenge the dynasties that Blink-182 & A Day to Remember have established in the song of the day tally, it's Say Anything.  Say Anything is a band I have loved since my later years of high school and one that I've seen live.  Say Anything's concert remains as one of the best concerts I've ever been to and will always bring a smile to my face.  From the beginning of their musical careers to now, I can't get enough of Max Bemis.  He's my 2nd favorite singer for a reason and I love the different sounds the band is able to conjure up.  Do Better is an example of a song with an upbeat and catchy tune and lyrics that are even a bit inspirational and incredibly unique.  I wouldn't be surprised if Say Anything climbs even further up this tally.

     Way the hell back in August, I did a post covering my top 15 movies of all-time.  Since that post was really quite a lot of fun to write, I have had a desire to do a top 100 movies of all-time and here we are.  The desire to do it was always there, but between school & work, the time was not.  I've finally sat down and got this thing done and I must say, I'm really quite proud.  I have since reestablished my list of movies and made some changes in the rankings, as you'll tell if you compare the list in August to that of the one here.  My total movies viewed is now up to 759 and when you think about it, 100 of them is a very very small sample.  That being said, just because a movie didn't make the top 100, doesn't necessarily mean I disliked it, I just didn't like it as much as these!  The same thing I wrote in August still pertains now, these aren't movies I consider "masterpieces" or whatever, they're not all the most popular movies in the world, they're just the movies I find the most entertainment in.  As always with these rankings list, I will provide the movies that just missed the cut.  Signs, Space Jam, Spider-Man, The Shining, Kiki's Delivery Service, American History X, & South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut are all movies I thoroughly enjoy, just not as much as these movies.
      I will break this up into several posts featuring movies every day until we reach number 1 (because who wants to read 100 fucking movies in one post) so here's 100-90.

Song of the Day

     I was all set to have this be the song of the day yesterday, but obviously that didn't happen.  On Sunday this song popped in my head a little bit and I figured it was going to take over Monday or Tuesday, it took a couple days but here it is.  Yet another Blink-182 song and a damn good and honest one at that.  Story of a Lonely Guy is an awesome song to listen to when you're feeling...well...lonely.  Shocking right?  Is there anything Mark, Tom, & Travis can't do?
