My Favorite Movies

I have seen 700+ movies in my life and own 200+ of them.  About 4 years ago I began a little (okay not so little...) project to determine just how many movies I had seen in my life.  I used the trusty and invaluable website imdb.com to aid me on my journey.  I was able to go to the page of every movie I had seen and give it a proper rating, based on how much I enjoyed a particular film.  I went through my DVD collection, my family's collection, & then went on to use the Wikipedia page that tells you the list of movies released year by year.  Needless to say, through extreme amount of research over the course of several years, I believe I have accumulated a comprehensive list of the movies I have watched.  Using this information, I created a Microsoft Word document ranking every single movie from number 1 to number 702 (a number that grows constantly)

Now then, I won't go ahead and rank all 702 movies because I know no one who actually does read this blog (all 2 of you) doesn't really want to look at that all.  It will become evident in this post that I am a massive horror & comedy movie fan, those are the genres I enjoy the most.  I will NEVER claim that my favorite movies are all cinematic masterpieces, they are simply the movies I enjoy the most.  There are "great" movies that I can't even sit through.  I am looking to be entertained and the movies that are my favorites, the ones I can watch over and over again, do exactly that.  So, like with my favorite bands post, I'll rank the top 15.  Also, like the favorite bands post, I'll post a couple movies that just missed the cut.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Jackass Number Two, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Toy Story 3, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Halloween II, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Cloverfield, Dazed and Confused, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, & Clerks. all just missed the cut.  I absolutely adore those movies, but they just aren't in my top 15.  So now then, let's see the 15 movies that DID make the cut.

My Favorite Bands

How often in your life do you hear this question, "What's your favorite band?"  I've lost track over the past 20+ years.  Majority of the time you'll receive an answer along the lines of "I have a lot of favorite bands, there's no way I could choose just one..." Not from this guy.  You see, I've always been the type of person who liked to have things organized.  Not for other people, but for myself.  I like to sit down and delve deep into my mind and break everything down to figure just whatever IS my favorite movie, my favorite song, my favorite band.  I'll create lists, determine the order using my own self-mandated criteria.  Then inevitably I'll pull a Kris Kringle and make sure I check my list twice, who knows, I may make a last-second change and flip two items.

So this past night I went ahead and pushed them sexy SkullCandy earbuds in and let my iPod decide for me. I decided to narrow the list down to a top 15.  I could have done a top 20, but once I got past 18 bands, I felt like the other two just weren't really worthy of me discussing.  They weren't on the same level as the other 18.  For the sake of giving credit to the honorable mentions, I'll say that the 3 bands who just missed the cut were Three Days Grace, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus & Hollywood Undead.  As for the bands that cost the other 3 spots on the list, The All-American Rejects, Weezer, Taking Back Sunday, Zebrahead, & The Used all just didn't quite live up to the standard.  Now then, how about we get down to the real list, shall we?  The bands that I turn to in my time of happiness, sadness, frustration, anger, confusion & sometimes just plain boredom.  My personal top 15 bands of all-time.

2011 NFL Predictions

The day has finally come.  The NFL returns tonight, August 11, 2011.  Okay, so maybe it doesn't REALLY return, it is just the first pre-season games, BUT STILL, we went through a summer of uncertainty.  Instead of hearing about where which free agents would go where and who Brett Favre sent a picture of his penis to, we heard about lawyers and money.  The lock-out was a long & annoying process we as fans had to anxiously sit through as we dreaded the thought of the greedy powers that be taking away our precious football.  Now we rest easy at night knowing the labor stoppage is now over and the NFL season will begin right on time.  In just one month, September 8 the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers will take on the 2009 champion New Orleans Saints.  I'm currently engulfed in a cornucopia of fantasy football goodness (3 leagues and counting) so I figured, what better time to post my NFL predictions post?  You know what I love about having this blog?  I can post my predictions for the world to see and when I get it right, I can totally brag and use this post as proof...or...when I have egg on my face at the end of the season when everything I predicted went the other way, I can pretend this post never happened.  This will be one mega-comprehensive analysis of the teams and the eventual champions, I will also include my predictions for all the awards as well.  Be forewarned, this post is LONG.  So perhaps you just look up your favorite team and/or their division as well?  Whatever you do, I loved writing this and I am damn proud of it, no matter what happens this season.  So I have one question for you.  Are you ready for some football?

Songs of Summer 2011

I wrote a blog post late last night but after reading it over, decided that it wasn't something I wanted published, so I deleted it and went on my merry way.  I still had the urge to write & post something so that's where this idea comes in.  This summer my iPod has got quite a lot of usage.  I don't think a day didn't go by where the little beautiful thing & I didn't have some quality time.  The title of this post would imply that I'm basing it on the most popular songs across the world during this summer.  That is not the case.  These are the songs that I personally have been obsessed with all summer long.  A couple of these songs are years old while some of them are from just recently.  The only criteria that had to be met is they drastically increased their playcount on my iPod and just struck a chord with me...and boy did they ever hit me.  So without any further ado, it's my songs of summer 2011.

Then & Now

Back in the day (which was a Tuesday, by the way) I used to have a MySpace.  Who didn't have one, right?  You had your Top 8 where all your friends competed for the top honor, a sweet song to welcome people each time they checked out your profile, & an awesome comments section so all said visitors could see how much people loved you.  You also had some information you could post for people to read about yourself.  On my profile, I had 2 surveys that I had taken (I loved taking surveys for some reason) I thought it would be a fun post idea if I took those two surveys, posted them on here, and then re-answered them.  I must have filled these things out around 4-5 years ago so let's see how much of a douche I was back then and see how I answer them now.  You know, so in 4-5 years I can look back on my new answers and wonder how did I become so douche-tastic.
