Songs of the Week

This week really became centered around music on Tuesday.  There's a lot going on in my life right, more so than I'm used to.  A lot of moving parts and new things.  I'm nervous as fuck, but kind of enjoying every moment of it.  Music was there to put everything into perspective and slow things down.  Side note - it's almost impossible for me to choose just one part of the lyrics in the song Therapy.  I kind of wanted to post the entire thing.  My mind has been going a million miles a minute for over a week now.  Also, this is easily my most diverse group of musicians I've ever had in one week.  Kind of awesome, if you ask me.

I haven't got a clue why there's so much rap this week, but I guess that's how it works out sometimes.  Very interesting week, tons of reflecting upon stuff like I'm prone to do.  Fairweather Fan has quickly become a go to song for my bonding time with my iPod.  And back-to-back weeks featuring Green Day, which I'm happy to see from an old favorite of mine.  Jay-Z, Brand New, All Time Low, Four Year Strong, Green Day, Kanye West, Troop 41, Against Me!, Mayday Parade, and Kid Cudi all in one week.  Yep, I'm totez normal.

     It's TRIPLE THURSDAY!  So what do we get on Triple Thursday?  Well...FOUR songs of the day.  Ignoring the fact that none of that makes sense, we'll just appreciate the fact that I've never had 4 songs in one day be honored as songs of the day and here they are.  Even though I despise waking up in the cold to go to class early, I do love all the music I get to listen to during the commute.  If I had to choose the songiest song of the day, I'd say it was Anywhere Else But Here by Simple Plan.  The supporting players today are I Swear This Time I Mean It by Mayday Parade, Better than Sex by Halifax, & Nice Guys Finish Last by Green Day.  I have to say, I LOVE my Klipsch over-the-ears headphones I received for Christmas, definitely enhances my music listening time.  I adore music & all these amazing lyrics for having the ability to distract me from the bitter Chicago winter atmosphere while walking around with wet hair, a light hoody, a t-shirt & jeans.

Song of the Day

     Finally, Green Day gets their first song of the day.  Boulevard of Broken Dreams is a song that made me obsessed with American Idiot.  It was my favorite song by Billie Joe & the boys for the longest time.  I love the lyrics.  I have never and will never be someone who tries to hold people back with my problems.  You won't see me bitching about "being ignored" or trying to suffocate someone and tell them how much anxiety I get when I go one day without seeing them.  I have learned to live by myself.  Life has forced me to accept that, ultimately, I'm alone.  Not in a depressing "woe is me" kind of way, just in a way where I realize that I have accepted dealing with my issues by myself.  People have enough on their plate already, no need for me to try and throw my crap at them as well.  Odds are, because of this, I'll become forgotten and it will suck when I really do need someone to lean on, but that's what happens when you want to make others happy and not bring them down.
