Two examples of songs that managed to stand out to me despite 48 hours of a lot of listening to music. One is an old friend, Better Off This Way, which now has five tallies in total. Another is Fairweather Fan which I find to be a good song and one with an awesome story behind it. Four Year Strong recorded the song as a dedication to their fans who have stuck with them since the beginning and made the song available for free download. Always love to see musicians give back and show that the only thing important is the music. I love when a song stands out to me like this one did. I was walking around, a bit distracted by the things around me - the cars, street lights, people, etc. When I get in that zone, I tend to sort of zone out the music blaring in my ears as it becomes background noise. Only when an especially good song clicks with me does my brain get pulled back into the music and that's what Fairweather Fan did for me earlier.
I've really been into listening to whiny pop punk songs complaining about how shitty people are lately. That and Niggas In Paris, because, like, I ball hard. Consistently.

In the beginning, I was up front. Nothing to think about, you'd always hear me out. We made a pact to never give up. When everything would change, we'd always stay the same. Having another one of those epiphany type nights, if you will. I tend to have a lot of these, pretty sure it has gotten to the point where they're no longer special. I think I'm just finally figuring out who I am after a year where I was completely lost. I always said I wished I was an asshole, but that was anger and pain talking. The truth is, I'm not really thrilled with being the typical nice guy, but I don't want to be an asshole either. I think you can be a decent person without going out of your way to be nice or overly supportive for people. I guess what I'm saying is that I am getting more and more comfortable with the idea of just looking out for myself and if I feel like it, should the situation present itself, then I can go out of my way to be nice if I feel like it's appropriate. We'll see how that goes, God knows I'm flakey when it comes to personal changes. I just feel like I've done so much for people in my life and a lot of times (not EVERY time) I'm left feeling like I didn't get much in return from them. Perhaps that's a selfish way of looking at things, obviously you should do nice things for people not for the personal gain, but because you want to, but I guess we all have our flaws. Anyway, Better Off This Way by A Day to Remember is the song of the day. Probably one of my favorite set of lyrics for any song.
Had a decent Mother's Day, for the most part. Got to finally see The Avengers, but other than that, a very very frustrating & deflating day as well (personally at least) Still can't quite shake the feeling of wishing someone would go out of their way to surprise me & for once, prove me wrong.
And my mouth is filled with blood, from trying not to speak. So search for an excuse and someone to believe you.

This song is just an impeccable combination of amazing sound and fantastic lyrics. One of my favorite songs I have ever heard. Can never get enough of it.
Yesterday I kicked off a new series of posts revealing my top 15 songs for a certain band. Blink-182 kicked off the festivities and now today, we move on to another top band of mine, A Day to Remember. The year 2011 has been that of A Day to Remember's for me. A band I've known about for several years, but only a few random songs here and there. Then What Separates Me from You was introduced to me and everything changed. That album has become one of my favorite CDs of all-time. A Day to Remember has some different sounding albums, meaning that their most recent one is pretty different than the early ones. I always enjoyed that in a band, a sense of evolution and growth as musicians is good.
