Songs of the Week

It wasn't until late Thursday night that I decided to do this post.  Really had no intentions of doing it again, but a late night in a situation that I'm all too familiar with arose.  80 GB iPod's battery being slowly drained as I listen to song after song.  I'm able to chill out and escape from everything for a little while when I lay down with my headphones on.  I've never been so good at turning off my brain, but keeping it occupied with music has always done the trick for me.

I haven't got a clue why there's so much rap this week, but I guess that's how it works out sometimes.  Very interesting week, tons of reflecting upon stuff like I'm prone to do.  Fairweather Fan has quickly become a go to song for my bonding time with my iPod.  And back-to-back weeks featuring Green Day, which I'm happy to see from an old favorite of mine.  Jay-Z, Brand New, All Time Low, Four Year Strong, Green Day, Kanye West, Troop 41, Against Me!, Mayday Parade, and Kid Cudi all in one week.  Yep, I'm totez normal.

Song(s) of the Day(s)

Two examples of songs that managed to stand out to me despite 48 hours of a lot of listening to music.  One is an old friend, Better Off This Way, which now has five tallies in total.  Another is Fairweather Fan which I find to be a good song and one with an awesome story behind it.  Four Year Strong recorded the song as a dedication to their fans who have stuck with them since the beginning and made the song available for free download.  Always love to see musicians give back and show that the only thing important is the music.  I love when a song stands out to me like this one did.  I was walking around, a bit distracted by the things around me - the cars, street lights, people, etc.  When I get in that zone, I tend to sort of zone out the music blaring in my ears as it becomes background noise.  Only when an especially good song clicks with me does my brain get pulled back into the music and that's what Fairweather Fan did for me earlier.
