Awesomeness Abounds Projections

Welcome, one and all, to the fantasy football season!  Fantasy Football, played by millions of people around the world, has become a staple of the NFL season.  I am in quite a few leagues, myself, but the most important is, of course, Awesomeness Abounds featuring many Twitch.TV personalities all vying to establish themselves as the best.  The bragging rights are there for the taking and I am primed and ready to defend my 2011 Awesomeness Abounds championship.  I am all set to take this league to the next nerdy level and write up a whole preview for the league, RIGHT HERE.  We did a pretty in-depth league this year with many roster spots and a lot of teams.  It's really going to take a keen fantasy mind to come out victorious this year.  It's anyone's game.

IHateBamsRingTone:
QB - Cam Newton
WR - Hakeem Nicks
WR - Kenny Britt
WR - DeSean Jackson
RB - Darren McFadden
RB - Ahmad Bradshaw
TE - Jermaine Gresham
W/R/T - Lance Moore
W/R/T - Jahvid Best
BN - Matt Schaub
BN - Shane Vereen
BN - Alex Green
BN - Jon Baldwin
BN - Jerome Simpson
BN - Joseph Addai
BN - Golden Tate

K - Mike Nugent

DEF - Philadelphia

Why this team is going to win:
It's a very complete team, overall.  A solid job was done by fantasy football rookie, Awoozl, who scooped up Cam Newton in the first round.  Newton may not be the most impressive NFL QB, but fantasy-wise, he's stellar.  He got Kenny Britt several rounds into the draft which is a steal considering his immense talent.  Jahvid Best is another late round steal and Darren McFadden is one of the best and most dynamic backs in the league.  Jerome Simpson, Jon Baldwin, and Golden Tate are solid backups as well, especially for a league like this where benches are so thin.

Why it's going to suck:
Those same reasons why it's going to be good could be the reasons why they suck.  Kenny Britt is a moron and is most likely going to be suspended, for how long, we're not sure.  He's one of the most talented, yet most idiotic players in the league.  The same can be said for Jackson who just inked a nice extension, which doesn't always bode well for performance.  Jahvid Best may die on the field this year and Joseph Addai isn't even on a team.  Philadelphia as a defense doesn't excite me either.

Fuck Yeah Seaking!:
QB - Peyton Manning
WR - Andre Johnson
WR - Brandon Lloyd
WR - Darrius Heyward-Bey
RB - Ray Rice
RB - Shonn Greene
TE - Jermichael Finley
W/R/T - Randy Moss
W/R/T - Mark Ingram
BN - Santana Moss
BN - Josh Freeman
BN - James Jones
BN - Joel Dressen
BN - Joe Adams
BN - Isiah Pead
BN - Dezmon Briscoe

K - Adam Vinatieri

DEF - Pittsburgh

Why this team is going to win:
Truth be told, this team is pretty damn good.  Peyton Manning is poised to take Denver by storm and prove he's still one of the best in the league and you don't get much better than Andre Johnson at WR.  Brandon Lloyd is on the verge of a great year in New England with Tom Brady throwing him the ball, while Darrius Heyward-Bey is a solid number three option on this team.  A combo of Ray Rice and Shonn Greene could be deadly and Randy Moss at the flex could be a steal.  The bench is one of the deeper ones in the league which could prove to be invaluable.  Ackbar could be on the verge of going from last place a year ago to the top of the league in 2012.

Why it's going to suck:
This team is OLD!  The combined ages of Peyton Manning, Andre Johnson, and Brandon Lloyd is a bajillion years old.  Can't wait for two or all three of them to get hurt.  Randy Moss is going to headbutt his wife or something and get booted from the team, which won't really matter, because Alex Smith was "throwing" him the ball anyway.  Mark Ingram didn't do much of anything last year in his rookie year and the Colts' fantasy punter would probably be more valuable than their kicker.

Deuces Wild:
QB - Michael Vick
WR - Calvin Johnson
WR - Jordy Nelson
WR  - Antonio Brown
RB - DeAngelo Williams
RB - Cedric Benson
TE - Aaron Hernandez
W/R/T - Dustin Keller
W/R/T - Terrell Owens
BN - Mohamed Sanu
BN - Jabar Gaffney
BN - Brandon Jacobs
BN - Kellen Winslow
BN - Sam Bradford
BN - Danny Woodhead

K - Jason Hanson
BN - Mason Crosby

DEF - San Francisco

Why this team is going to win:
It's a dynamic team, to say the least.  Michael Vick at QB can be a top fantasy player and Calvin Johnson is, without a doubt, the best WR in the NFL.  The core is fantastic with Megatron, Jordy Nelson, and Antonio Brown.  Nelson broke out last year and Brown will most likely do the same this year.  There's plenty of depth at TE with Dustin Keller, Aaron Hernandez, and Kellen Winslow.  And I always love taking a flyer late in a draft on guys like Terrell Owens and Cedric Benson.  You won't see any argument from me as to who the best defense in the NFL is.  I'd pick San Fran every time.

Why it's going to suck:
Have you ever seen a less impressive running back core on a fantasy team?  Crumps took quite a gamble in the draft when he decided to forego running backs in favor of other positions and it could come back to bite him in the ass.  DeAngelo Williams is suspect, to say the least, especially considering he's the number two guy behind Jonathan Stewart and is going to have TD usurped by Mike Tolbert.  Owens is a drama queen who is more likely to make noise off the field, rather than on it, at this point in his career.  Michael Vick is also one of the most injury prone QB in the league.  There's also no guarantee guys like Nelson and Brown are going to perform well, neither one have an extensive track record.  This team will live and die with its WR.

Lionel Fuckin Richie:
QB - Matt Ryan
WR - A.J. Green
WR - Demaryius Thomas
WR - Robert Meachem
RB - Chris Johnson
RB - DeMarco Murray
TE - Jared Cook
W/R/T - Mike Williams
W/R/T - Michael Crabtree
BN - Ben Tate
BN - Mario Manningham
BN - Jake Locker
BN - Dexter McCluster
BN - Kevin Smith
BN - Randall Cobb
BN - Dennis Pitta

K - Josh Scobee

DEF - Tennessee

Why this team is going to win:
This team has a spectacular football mind running it, with ADogInAWig.  You won't find someone who knows more about his players than this guy.  This team has a chance to house the best WR duo and RB duo.  A.J. Green and Demaryius Thomas could be deadly, while Chris Johnson and DeMarco Murray are spectacular.  The bench is solid with Ben Tate, Mario Manningham, Jake Locker, Kevin Smith and Randall Cobb.  I cannot stress how important a deep bench can be in a league like this one.

Why this team is going to suck:
Matt Ryan isn't spectacular, he's not going to push this team over the edge.  Murray already seems like he may be injury prone and this team is really relying on Chris Johnson to play like he's supposed to be.  If CJ2K plays like CJ1k then this team is in trouble.  Can you tell this guy is a Titans fan?  That doesn't always translate well to fantasy sports when you're loyal to your team.

Tee's Gotham Knights:
QB - Philip Rivers
WR - Mike Wallace
WR - Steve Smith
WR - Greg Little
RB - Trent Richardson
RB - Roy Helu
TE - Jimmy Graham
W/R/T - Fred Davis
W/R/T - Malcom Floyd
BN - Mikel LeShoure
BN - Carson Palmer
BN - Doug Baldwin
BN - Stephen Hill
BN - Heath Miller

K - Billy Cundiff
BN - Rian Lindell

DEF - Green Bay
BN - Cincinnati

Why this team is going to win:
It's not.

Why it's going to suck:
It will.  Auto-drafting can and will fuck you over.  It gives you Trent Richardson, Greg Little, and Roy Helu.  Mike Wallace is pissed off and may not even play.  Jimmy Graham isn't going to carry a team on his own.

Kristy's Gamers:
QB - Robert Griffin III
WR - Wes Welker
WR - Jeremy Maclin
WR - Reggie Wayne
RB - Maurice Jones-Drew
RB - Matt Forte
TE - Brandon Pettigrew
W/R/T - Justin Blackmon
W/R/T - C.J. Spiller
BN - Jacoby Ford
BN - Dion Lewis
BN - Joe Flacco
BN - Tim  Tebow
BN - LaMichael James
BN - Marcedes Lewis
BN - Plaxico Burress

K - Dan Carpenter

DEF - New York (Jets)

Why this team is going to win:
I'm a big fan of RGIII, I think he has a chance to be the Cam Newton of 2012, but better.  This team has a chance to contend with Lionel Fuckin Richie for the best RB duo in the league with Forte and Jones-Drew.  Reggie Wayne could be a solid number three WR and Wes Welker was amazing last year.  I'm also a surprising believer in Justin Blackmon, I think he could do as well as Julio Jones did last year.  I really like that she took chances on rookies LaMichael James and Dion Lewis - they could end up being dark horse fantasy players.  Should Burress sign with the Patriots, then she has another solid option on her bench.  This is a girl who managed to make the playoffs last year in this league in her rookie year.  She seems to know how to run a team and should not be looked over.  Also, TEBOW!!!!!!!

Why it's going to suck:
If you're going to trust Jeremy Maclin, then you're gonna have a bad time.  Kristy had Maclin last season and he didn't perform well at all, but she seems to trust him again.  This could come back to bite her in the ass.  If Blackmon isn't as good as projected, then with Spiller, she could have one of the weaker flex spots in the league.  Brandon Pettigrew isn't a groundbreaking TE and she better hope RGIII doesn't suck, or else she's fucked.

The Bunzzzzzzzz:
QB - Eli Manning
WR - Vincent Jackson
WR - Denarius Moore
WR - Sidney Rice
RB - Ryan Mathews
RB - Reggie Bush
TE - Anthony Fasano
W/R/T - Peyton Hillis
W/R/T - Alshon Jeffery
BN - Jacquizz Rodgers
BN - Tim Hightower
BN - Greg Olsen
BN - Danny Amendola
BN - Matt Cassel

K - Robbie Gould
BN - Nick Novak

DEF - New England
BN - Atlanta

Why this team is going to win:
It's going to take a lot for this team to contend.  It's a rookie manager who is relying on guys to have unprecedented good years.  Eli Manning does what he did last year and this team has its marquee player.  Manning can make Harugeki's team difficult to face if he puts up 5,000 yards again.  Ryan Mathews is going to miss the beginning of the season, but has been rated extremely high on pre-draft rankings.  He needs to return 100% and if he does, it could be a hell of a boost for The Bunzzzzzzzz.  Reggie Bush ran for 1,000+ yards last year and is the top guy in Miami's offense.  Alshon Jeffery could also be a good addition if he performs well in his first year in Chicago.

Why it's going to suck:
There's not a player on this team that frightens me as an opponent.  Vincent Jackson was inconsistent with Philip Rivers throwing the ball to him last season and now he has Josh Freeman as his QB.  Ryan Mathews is injury prone and overrated and Peyton Hillis is done if you ask me.  New England's defense was atrocious last season and Nick Novak shouldn't even be owned in any fantasy leagues.  This team would require quite a bit of tinkering to contend and I'm not sure it's going to happen.

Bringing the Ruckus:
QB - Ben Roethlisberger
WR - Victor Cruz
WR - Julio Jones
WR - Nate Washington
RB - LeSean McCoy
RB - Jonathan Stewart
TE - Vernon Davis
W/R/T - Brent Celek
W/R/T - Nate Burleson
BN - Michael Floyd
BN - Andrew Luck
BN - Deion Branch
BN - Robert Turbin
BN - Matt Hasselbeck
BN - Zach Miller

K - John Kasay

DEF - Baltimore
BN - San Diego

Why this team is going to win:
Victor Cruz came out of nowhere last season and established himself as one of the most impressive and dominating fantasy WR in the league.  He's a certified number one guy now and along with Julio Jones, the two of them may cause a ruckus for Eddie.  I really think Julio Jones will emerge as a number one option and one of the better WR in the NFL.  Eddie loved Shady McCoy on his team so much last year that he drafted him again this year.  No issues there, he's one of the best, possibly even the best, fantasy options in the league.  I love Vernon Davis at TE, doesn't get much better than that as a second tier option at that position. You won't hear me propose the idea of a defense being better for fantasy points than Balitmore.  Trust me, I know first hand.

Why this team is going to suck:
I don't like Ben Rapistberger as a fantasy QB and Nate Washington is far from a sure thing week in and week out.  He may be a solid option, but I don't personally like Jonathan Stewart either.  He's a guy I would stay away from because of how much of the workload he has to share with two other guys.  I'm not a huge fan of having a TE in your flex spot, unless he's a top tier player, which Celek is not.  Nate Burleshington are going to have decent games once every couple weeks.  It remains to be seen if they're going to simply add on to an already good week or if they're going to perform well when all is lost anyway.  John Kasay may not even be the starter in New Orleans so the Ruckus may aching for fantasy points at kicker.

The Studly Studs:
QB - Aaron Rodgers
WR - Brandon Marshall
WR - Marques Colston
WR - Laurent Robinson
RB - Steven Jackson
RB - Frank Gore
TE - Tony Gonzalez
W/R/T - Stevan Ridley
W/R/T - Coby Fleener
BN - Rashard Mendenhall
BN - Felix Jones
BN - Mark Sanchez
BN - Emmanuel Sanders
BN - Scott Chandler
BN - Chad Johnson

K - Stephen Gostkowski

DEF - Houston
BN - Denver

Why this team is going to win:
The defending champions!  My team, The Studly Studs.  Three words - Aaron.  Fucking.  Godgers.  Rodgers had a year last year where he was able to single-handedly carry teams to the top of their leagues.  Throw in two number one options in Brandon Marshall and Marques Colston and you got yourselves a heck of an air-it-out type of team.  Steven Jackson and Frank Gore have both been top fantasy options in their careers while Tony Gonzalez remains as a great option at TE.  Stevan Ridley is the number one guy in New England now and everyone knows how a top RB on any team can get you at least a decent amount of fantasy points.  Houston was one of the more underrated defenses in football.

Why it's going to suck:
The law of averages simply states that there is no way Rodgers puts up numbers that he did last year.  He's going to take a step down.  Marshall and Colston are both the top WR on their teams, but they're hardly top tier fantasy options.  Marshall has the ability and a decent QB, but the Bears offensive line is awful and that is going to directly affect Marshall's production.  Colston is on a dynamic offense where several guys make impacts.  Jimmy Graham is the top option, while Colston is the top WR.  There's simply too many players in that offense that take away fantasy points from Colston.  Robinson was spectacular last year for Dallas, but now he's in Jacksonville and there's a good chance he's never going to be heard from again.  Jackson and Gore are injury prone, to say the least, and there's no real bench to speak of here.  Stephen Gostkowski isn't going to give you any eye-popping numbers at kicker either.

envy is god:
QB - Tom Brady
WR - Greg Jennings
WR - Dwayne Bowe
WR - Austin Collie
RB - Fred Jackson
RB - BenJarvus Green-Ellis
TE - Jason Witten
W/R/T - Titus Young
W/R/T - Daniel Thomas
BN - Andy Dalton
BN - Delone Carter
BN - David Nelson
BN - Early Doucet
BN - Mike Goodson

K - Sebastian Janikowski
BN - Steven Hauschka

DEF - Seattle
BN - Buffalo

Why this team is going to win:
Say what you will about the owner, Ahmed Johnson, but he knows football.  He has no life to speak of so he's going to spend much of his time studying football.  Tom Brady is a top option at QB while the duo of Greg Jennings and Dwayne Bowe is definitely formidable.  Fred Jackson was one of the better fantasy RB last season and The Law Firm getting a full workload in Cincinnati could prove to be a great thing for his fantasy stock.  Jason Witten has been dropping quite a bit in fantasy drafts and envy was the team that was able to scoop him up in the end.  Titus Young could be a breakout performer in Detroit, as well as Daniel Thomas in Miami should Reggie Bush not perform well this year.  Sebastian Jankikowski is an absolute beast at kicker who can put up numbers you'd be willing to accept from a RB.

Why it's going to suck:
This is a manager who falls in love with players.  He zones in on guys he thinks are going to be spectacular and will live and die with them.  Austin Collie was dead weight last year and who knows what you'll get from him, if anything, this year.  BenJarvus Green-Ellis has never had a real full workload and there's no telling how he'll do with probably the most carries he'll ever have.  It's obvious envy wanted to get Spiller as a safety net for Jackson, who is over 30-years-old and injury prone, but he was not able to.  That would have been a good insurance policy.  There's really no bench here and he'll need the starters to play at or above their expectations.

Reaper's Funhouse
QB - Jay Cutler
WR - Miles Austin
WR - Pierre Garcon
WR - Anquan Boldin
RB - Arian Foster
RB - Marshawn Lynch
TE - Owen Daniels
W/R/T - Jamaal Charles
W/R/T - Doug Martin
BN - James Starks
BN - Ronnie Hillman
BN - Kyle Rudolph
BN - Brian Quick
BN - Christian Ponder

K - Rob Bironas
BN - Matt Bryant

DEF - Arizona
BN - Dallas

Why this team is going to win:
This is a rare case of an auto-draft doing a decent job.  It helps that Reaper got the first overall pick.  Arian Foster is the undisputed top fantasy option this year and I think he'll prove that to be a smart claim.  With Marshawn Lynch and Jamaal Charles on this team as well, it's a three headed dragon of fantasy goodness.  Doug Martin is a rookie, so it remains to be seen just what you'll get from him, but he'll just have to put up decent numbers to help propel this team.  I really cannot say enough about how much I approve and envy this core of Foster, Lynch, and Charles.

Why it's going to suck:
Jay Cutler has not been a good fantasy QB option since he's come to Chicago and it's mainly because of his offensive line.  If he just had some time to throw the ball, things could be different.  Miles Austin, Pierre Garcon, Anquan Boldin doesn't strike fear in anyone and neither does Owen Daniels anymore.  There is absolutely no bench to speak of.  It's terrible.  The defenses are both painfully average and I'd probably be more willing to start Dallas over Arizona.  Marshawn Lynch can't seem to keep clean off the field and this may hinder his availability in some games should he get suspended.  He also needs to prove, as well as Foster and Charles, that they're not injury prone.  If any of those guys go down for an extended period of time, then this team won't be so fun anymore.

Team Maggichu:
QB - Drew Brees
WR - Roddy White
WR - Percy Harvin
WR - Torrey Smith
RB - Michael Turner
RB - Isaac Redman
TE - Jacob Tamme
W/R/T - Pierre Thomas
W/R/T - David Wilson
BN - Ryan Fitzpatrick
BN - Toby Gerhart
BN - Dallas Clark
BN - Joe McKnight
BN - Earl Bennett
BN - Steve Breaston

K - David Akers
BN - Graham Gano

DEF - New York (Giants)

Why this team is going to win:
Any team that has Drew Brees at QB has a chance of being a contender.  Roddy White is a very talented WR in Atlanta, as well as Michael Turner as RB.  Isaac Redman may be a breakout candidate with Mendenhall out with injury.  Team manager, Maggie, is very hungry to do well as she is hyper competitive and wants to be able to brag.  She will not accept another losing season after being decimated by injuries last year.  There's plenty of options here at flex with Thomas and rookie Wilson currently slated to be her opening day starters.  Toby Gerhart has done very well in Minnesota whenever Adrian Peterson goes down with injury and you have to believe Gerhart will spell AP quite a bit to try and cut down on his workload.  Percy Harvin was spectacular down the stretch for fantasy players and his ability to both catch and rush the ball is enough to make any fantasy player drool.

Why it's going to suck:
I'm not a big fan of having multiple guys from the same team on a fantasy team.  White and Turner are very good options, but Atlanta isn't an offensive powerhouse and it's unlikely both guys will have great games week in and week out.  It may be an either/or type of thing.  Jacob Tamme has potential to be good, but that remains to be seen.  Peyton Manning will have to stay healthy in Denver for Tamme to do well.  Pierre Thomas and David Wilson will be relied on heavily and that may not bode well for Team Maggichu.

Claire It Out:
QB - Matthew Stafford
WR - Larry Fitzgerald
WR - Stevie Johnson
WR - Santonio Holmes
RB - Darren Sproles
RB - Willis McGahee
TE - Antonio Gates
W/R/T - Donald Brown
W/R/T - LeGarrette Blount
BN - Mike Tolbert
BN - Ryan Williams
BN - Davone Bess
BN - Alex Smith
BN - Ed Dickson
BN - Devery Henderson
BN - Taiwan Jones

K - Neil Rackers

DEF - Detroit

Why this team is going to win:
I love Matthew Stafford at QB for fantasy.  He has Megatron catching every single pass he throws up there and he racked up 5,000+ yards last year.  The combination of Stafford, Larry Fitzgerald, and Stevie Johnson has potential to make Claire's team one of the best in the league.  Darren Sproles was a guy that did it all for New Orleans a year ago and that's one of the best offenses in the NFL.  Philip Rivers doesn't have that many targets left in San Diego, so a healthy Antonio Gates should prove to be a top fantasy TE option.  Donald Brown is a number one guy in Indy this season and any time you can have a potential 1,000 yard rusher in a flex spot, that's a good thing.

Why it's going to suck:
I don't like the running back duo.  Sproles, while he was great last year, has never been an overly consistent player.  I'm not sure he's going to be as valuable this year.  Willis McGahee's workload is going to diminish in Denver this year with Peyton and friends airing it out.  LeGarrette Blount fell out of favor last year in Tampa Bay and is on the verge of losing his starting spot to a rookie.  There's a lot of questions here.  Is Holmes going to get more receiving yards?  Are Gates and Stafford going to stay healthy?  Is Fitzgerald going to have a decent QB throwing the ball to him?  Is Johnson going to stop being a typical diva WR?  Is Sproles going to get a butt-load of targets again?  Are Tolbert and McGahee going to get any carries?  Is Blount going to lose his job?  Why the hell did she draft Taiwan Jones?

Fat Jesus' Disciples:
QB - Tony Romo
WR - Dez Bryant
WR - Eric Decker
WR - Vincent Brown
RB - Adrian Peterson
RB - Beanie Wells
TE - Rob Gronkowski
W/R/T - Michael Bush
W/R/T - Kendall Wright
BN - Matt Flynn
BN - Tony Moeaki
BN - Rueben Randle
BN - Devin Hester
BN - Kevin Walter
BN - Brian Hartline
BN - Evan Royster

K - Dan Bailey

DEF - Chicago

Why this team is going to win:
By all accounts, Adrian Peterson is healthy and that means anyone who drafted him is getting a steal, because he has top fantasy player ability.  Tony Romo and Dez Bryant love each other and there's plenty of fantasy points to be had there.  There's not another more physically imposing TE than Gronk and he's going to continue putting up ridiculous numbers and making Fat Jesus jizz his pants excitedly.  Beanie Wells had an insane 200+ yard rushing game last year, so you know there's the potential to be good there.  Eric Decker seems poised to have a breakout year with one of the greatest QB of all-time throwing the ball to him and Vincent Brown has looked impressive in preseason.  Chicago is a great team for fantasy defense because of how dedicated they are to turnovers.

Why it's going to suck:
Trusting your favorite team's player to do well for you in fantasy is always risky.  Trusting two (three if you count Bailey) guys to do so is even riskier.  Fat Jesus is a Cowboys fan who not only roots for them to win, but to do so with Romo and Bryant playing at high levels.  Beanie Wells is inconsistent as hell and there's a lot of relying on guys like Decker, Brown, Michael Bush, and Kendall Wright to do well.  His two flex men are backups on their teams and will have to emerge and play past expectations.  Tony Moeaki is a guy that could step in and fill a flex spot should either one of those guys fail to impress.

Well, what's going to happen?!
There's four playoff teams and four consolation teams.  Here are the eight teams that I think will make up the elite remaining eight.
- Fuck Yeah Seaking!
- Lionel Fuckin Richie
- Bringing the Ruckus
- The Studly Studs
- envy is god
- Fat Jesus' Disciples
- Kristy's Gamers
- Team Maggichu

I expect The Studly Studs, Fat Jesus' Disciples, Fuck Yeah Seaking, and Lionel Fuckin Richie to be the four teams battling it out for the championship.

Who's going to win?
The Studly Studs, of course.  Duh.
